PELICAN NARROWS – A grand opening ceremony was held June 16 for a new RCMP Detachment building in Pelican Narrows.

Elders, Chief Brian Hardlotte of the Prince Albert Grand Council, Mayor Ovide Michel from the Northern Village of Pelican Narrows, Coun. Sarah Swan from Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and community members joined Saskatchewan RCMP Commanding Officer Rhonda Blackmore and Pelican Narrows RCMP Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Rod Rudnisky in the festivities.

After the official ribbon cutting, the community enjoyed a barbecue, snow cones, popcorn and other treats.

The modern, welcoming facility is something to be celebrated, say the RCMP. It will allow Pelican Narrows RCMP to continue to evolve operations, and provide efficient and effective policing services in Pelican Narrows.

Saskatchewan RCMP offers their appreciation to Pelican Narrows and all the Indigenous communities who receive policing services from the RCMP, and who continue to welcome them to their land and to their communities.
