Regina man arraigned on drug and firearm charges

Accused remanded until next court date.

REGINA –  David Innes was arraigned on drug and firearm charges in Regina Court of King's Bench, rising from a January 15, 2021 investigation.

At that time, the RPS Drug Unit executed seven CDSA search warrants around Regina - three on vehicles and four others in the Central Park, Downtown and Harbour Landing areas. Innes was one of two men arrested in relation to the police investigation.

On March 9, Innes entered guilty pleas to four charges against him, two counts possession of a controlled substance for trafficking (methamphetamine and fentanyl), possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded firearm not being the holder of registration. The weapon in question was identified as a 41 caliber Taurus revolver.

Justice Darin Chow tentatively accepted the guilty pleas, directing the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

The matter will return on May 15 where lawyer submissions will be heard prior to sentencing. Innes will be remanded into custody until that date.
