Regina man charged after gunshots on Edgar Street

One of two parked cars hit with bullets was occupied, police say.

REGINA – The sound of gunshots is typically not the alarm people prefer to wake up with. Residents in the 800 block of Edgar Street experienced just that sort of wake up call on the morning of Jan. 23, and promptly alerted police.

“Multiple people phoned police reporting that they could hear what sounded like gunshots in the area,” RPS confirmed in a media release. “Officers attended and locked down the 800 block of Edgar Street and the immediate surrounding area.”

They discovered two parked vehicles had been hit by bullets - one of those with a person inside when their car was struck. Luckily, they were not injured by the wayward bullet.

Police determined the shots originated from a residence on the block, which culminated in a search of the home.

“Officers spoke with the people inside that residence and requested that all occupants exit the home,” said RPS. “The occupants complied, and multiple people were taken into custody without incident.”

Through their search, police discovered and seized a firearm and ammunition. They also charged Braden James Moneybird, 22, with four counts possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and single counts discharge a restricted or prohibited firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner, and unauthorized possession of the firearm.

Moneybird made his first court appearance on this matter on Jan. 24.
