RPS rule out foul play in Wascana drowning

Investigation continues as to cause of death.

Regina Police Service is investigating a drowning death.

REGINA – Police have identified a man who was found deceased in Wascana Lake on Oct. 20, and say that it was not a homicide.

"The male was a Regina resident and his next of kin have been notified," said the Regina Police Service in a release. "Through investigation, police have also determined that the death was not criminal."

Investigation will continue into the case, led by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and assisted by police.

RPS responded to the discovery of a deceased person in the water near Willow Island at 3:20 p.m. on Oct. 20. Regina Fire and Protective Services assisted in the recovery of the man, and at that time, his identity was not known.
