Saskatoon man charged with child porn offences

Police say the investigation is continuing with further charges pending.

Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit unit is seeing an increase in crimes against children.

SASKATOON – Saskatoon man, Matthew Wood, 36, was remanded in custody Wednesday on several child porn charges. He appears next on Jan. 19.

On Jan. 17, investigators with the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit executed a search warrant at a Saskatoon home that had been identified as the location where the offences had been occurring.

Forensic examination of several electronic devices was conducted and Wood was charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, and distributing child pornography.

Police say the investigation is continuing with further charges pending.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is made up of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
