Update: Saskatoon police charge man, 75, with historical sexual assault

The victim and accused were known to one another through their affiliation with the Saskatoon faith-based institution, say police.

SASKATOON – Update: New charges have been laid against a man in a separate investigation into a historical sexual assault with faith-based affiliations.

In June of 2024, the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) received a report regarding allegations of sexual assault and assault occurring historically.

The victim and accused were known to one another through their affiliation with the Saskatoon faith-based institution, according to police.

As a result of investigation by members of the Saskatoon Police Service Interpersonal Violence Section, a 75-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault, invitation to touching, and assault with a weapon. He turned himself in to the SPS on Sept. 18, 2024.

Original post: A 74-year-old man turned himself into Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) on July 25, 2023 on a charge of sexual assault with a weapon. SPS say that in 2022 they received a report about an alleged sexual assault.

The victim and accused were known to one another through their affiliation with a Saskatoon faith-based institution, say police. 

Police didn't identify the accused. He appears in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Aug. 21, 2023.
