Saskatoon police renew request for tips in decade's old murder

Jim Favel was assaulted and suffered head injuries, say police.

SASKATOON – It’s been 10 years since 77-year-old James (Jim) Hilliard Favel's murder and Saskatoon Police Service is renewing its request to the public for information.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., Aug. 19, 2013, patrol officers were dispatched to a call of an injured man in the 200 block of Avenue I North. When police arrived on scene, Favel was found suffering from head injuries. Police said they believed he was assaulted.

He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries Aug. 31, 2013. An autopsy determined that the head injuries led to his death.

Saturday marks 10 years since the assault that led to Mr. Favel’s death, and investigators are asking anyone who may have information on what happened, to come forward.
