REGINA – A pair of women appeared on robbery charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, police were called to the 2000 block of Prince of Wales Drive for a weapons offence.
“Early information provided to police stated that two individuals had stolen items from the business,” said RPS in a media release. “When the suspects were confronted by security, one of the suspects revealed a bladed weapon before leaving the business on foot.”
Police found the women walking on East Quance Gate, and both were arrested.
“In a search following arrest, police located a bladed weapon and merchandise from two businesses, totalling more than $1,200.”
The women had targeted Superstore and Winners for the thefts.
Danielle Terri Bird, 29, was charged with robbery, shoplifting under $5,000, failure to comply with a release condition and failure to comply with a probation order.
Andrea Beryl Husband, 32, was also charged with robbery and shoplifting under $5,000.
Both women appeared in Regina Provincial Court this morning
Bird was also facing older charges, a pair of assaults that occured on June 26 and Aug. 15, plus an Aug. 21 failure to attend court charge.
The Crown was opposed to Bird’s release, and she was remanded in custody until her Sept. 21 court date.
Husband also faced an earlier charge of assault from Oct. 25, 2022.
The Crown was agreeable to her conditional release, including no contact with the assault victims (one of whom being a loss prevention officer), not to attend the businesses where the thefts occurred and a weapons ban.
Husband is scheduled to appear next in court on Sept. 28.
