PRINCE ALBERT - There are four candidates contesting the seat of Prince Albert Northcote, including incumbent Alana Ross, Sask Party; the previous incumbent, Nicole Rancourt, NDP; Terri Davis, Sask United Party; and Jarren Jones for the Green Party.
Alana Ross was elected as the Sask Party MLA for Prince Albert Northcote in the 2020 provincial election.
Prior to her election, she worked in the province's health care sector as a front-line nurse, unit union representative, in the management team, and as a post-secondary instructor. Ross has also served as the Saskatchewan Party President for Prince Albert Northcote since 2011.
Alana has three grown children, one grandchild, and resides in Prince Albert Northcote.
Nicole Rancourt is a social worker and served as the NDP MLA for Prince Albert Northcote from 2016 to 2020. She defeated Saskatchewan Party incumbent Victoria Jurgens with a majority of 261 votes, and in the 2020 Saskatchewan general election, she was unseated by Alana Ross.
In 2008, Rancourt was awarded the Rebel With A Cause award from the Elizabeth Fry Society for her work with incarcerated women. In 2023, she was named to the Women's Hall of Fame by the Prince Albert Council of Women. Rancourt has a Business Administration Certificate from Saskatchewan Polytechnic and a Bachelor Degree in Social Work from the University of Regina. Before entering politics, Nicole was a registered Social Worker and worked at Prince Albert Mental Health Outpatient for the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
She is actively involved with numerous volunteer organizations and is a season ticket holder to both the Prince Albert Raiders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Jarren Jones is the Saskatchewan Green Party candidate for Prince Albert Northcote. He was born in Meadow Lake and grew up in Waldheim. After high school, Jarren worked in care homes in Waldheim and Warman. This fueled his passion for pursuing an education and career in health care science.
While studying primary care, Jarren served as an EMT on ambulance duty. He went on to become a first-class laboratory clinician, achieving his degree through SaskPolytech in Saskatoon.
He has been working at Prince Albert’s Cooperative Health Centre laboratory, in blood work, for the last four years.
Although Jarren lives in PA Northcote, he farms and raises sheep near Meath Park, just north of Prince Albert, where his farm is partially off-grid. He also grows and harvests hay for his sheep off that land. He uses an array of solar panels for power. Jarren understands the challenges of urban and rural life and the struggles of the current cost of living crisis in both.
Jarren is also an avid volunteer with the Legion in Paddockwood.
Sask United Party candidate Terri Davis has worked in Prince Albert in education and employment since 2009 for the YWCA, Gabriel Dumont Institute and currently with Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Terri was born in Buffalo Narrows, and raised in the small rural community of Choiceland, where she currently resides. As a single parent, she understands the challenges of families and is willing to be the voice that stands up for the community and its people.
She believes Saskatchewan has all it needs to be successful by taking a common-sense approach to rebuild provincial services and recognizes we are stronger when united.
Terri holds diplomas in Criminology and Entrepreneurship and numerous certificates pertaining to Human Resources.
She has also served extensively on multiple boards including Community Futures, the Community Initiatives Fund, Dept. of Social Services, Race Relations and Social Issues and the Urban Multipurpose Aboriginal Youth Centers Committee.
Terri’s contributions to the province have been recognized by being awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (field of Education) in 2023, the Tier of Excellence Lifetime Achievement
Recognition Award – from Oxford Who's Who in 2016 and the Award of Excellence - Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015.
Terri has dedicated her life and career to helping others reach and strive for success. Her goals are to continue working for Saskatchewan people to facilitate positive change.
