Prov. election on Oct. 28, four candidates in Weyburn-Bengough

Voters will be going to the polls on Monday, Oct. 28, and as of Wednesday morning, there are four candidates vying for the seat.

The Legislature was dissolved on Tuesday, and the writs for the provincial election were dropped, with the voting day set for Monday, Oct. 28.

WEYBURN - The writ was dropped for the provincial election on Tuesday, and voters will be going to the polls on Monday, Oct. 28.

At dissolution of the Legislature, the Sask Party had 42 MLAs, the NDP had 14, Sask. United had one, with three independent MLAs, for a total of 61 seats.

Prior to this election, Weyburn-Big Muddy had been represented by Sask Party MLA Dustin Duncan.

The riding will now change to Weyburn-Bengough, and as of Wednesday morning, there are four candidates vying for the seat.

As Duncan is not running again, Mike Weger will be the new Sask Party candidate. Seth Lendrum is running for the NDP; Rose McInnes is running for the Sask. United Party; and North Hunter is running for the Green Party.

The Buffalo Party does not currently have a candidate, but one may be announced shortly.

The deadline for candidates to file their nomination papers is by Saturday, Oct. 12, and the deadline to vote by mail or for homebound applications is Oct. 19, with voting week to run from Oct. 22-26. Residents can vote on any of these five early voting days during Voting Week, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Any Canadian citizen who is at least 18 years old by October 28, 2024, and ordinarily a Saskatchewan resident is eligible to vote. You must show ID at voting locations to vote.
