YORKTON  – The Buffalo Party's candidate for Yorkton in the upcoming 2024 Provincial Election is Timothy Kasprick.

In a recent email correspondence with SaskToday.ca, Kasprick said he is a "Yorkton area family farmer with a wealth of experience and talent to bring to the position of MLA for Yorkton. I have a degree in Economics and Political Science and a diploma Health Information Management. This education was the foundation for my former career in the Sunrise Health Region and later the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)."

Kasprick said he "left the SHA in 2021 as the draconian measures taken during COVID changed the direction of healthcare in a way that I could not continue to be part of. Seniors dying of loneliness and isolation, children subjected to ruthless vaccine mandates and families and neighbours torn apart. It was the Buffalo Party’s brave stance against COVID restrictions that caught my attention in 2020 and I went on to join the Buffalo Party."

What do you see as priorities for your area?

New Yorkton Hospital. 15 years ago the design for the new hospital was distributed to hospital staff for feedback, the community did all the necessary fundraising and then the project disappeared. It is heartbreaking for me to think of all the suffering and sadly even death that has occurred because of this broken SaskParty promise. A new hospital for Yorkton is my number one priority.

What is your plan on:

Affordability

The biggest iceberg about to hit the residents and businesses of Saskatchewan is skyrocketing electricity rates. SaskPower has refused Freedom of Information recommendations to release the cost of the SMR nuclear reactor project and nuclear reactors cost billions. Based on past SaskPower rate increases such as in 2022-2023 our power rates could double or even triple. And oh yeah – SMR’s can’t use Saskatchewan uranium as they need enriched uranium which will need to be imported possibly from as far away as France. The Buffalo Party will instead fight for affordable power generation.

Health

Rural healthcare has been under attack all over the province and now Regina and Saskatoon facilities are overwhelmed with patients from all across the province. Why did Estevan have to fight the government for years to accept a $2 million donation to establish MRI services? Why has Yorkton’s new hospital never happened? The Buffalo Party believes in rural healthcare and will ensure quality care across the province.

Education

The primary decision-making authority of parents regarding their children's education shall be recognized. Parents shall have the right to opt out of any curriculum that they find counter to their values. Schools shall be obligated to operate in an open and transparent manner, keeping parents informed of all aspects of their children’s education.

Public Safety

Legislation shall be brought forth to cancel the contract with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for policing services in Saskatchewan, replacing it with a provincial police force. We can achieve much better public safety with a provincially directed police force.

Highways

The economic boom of The Buffalo Party’s policy to double oil production will generate provincial revenue to maintain and improve Saskatchewan’s highways better than they have been before.

What is your stance on the federal Carbon Tax?

The carbon tax does not change the weather – it crushes the population. The Buffalo Party will fight it to the finish up to and including invoking the notwithstanding clause.

Most pressing issue effecting your constituency?

Building Yorkton’s new hospital. Yorkton serves a large area of Saskatchewan and a new modern hospital will help alleviate the pressure on the healthcare system all across the province.
