Tom Kroczynski is the NDP candidate for the Battlefords

"I think I have ideas and the energy to help the people of the Battlefords do better."

NORTH BATTLEFORD - Tom Kroczynski says he is proud to be the NDP candidate for the Battlefords, running in the upcoming provincial election.

He believes this is the right time for him to run in the race for the MLA position.

"You get to a certain point in your life; we've raised four kids here in the Battlefords," Kroczynski said on his plans to run. "My youngest now is in Grade 11, so we have a little more time, [that's] part of it."

Kroczynski teaches music at Bready Elementary School in North Battleford. He has 20 years experience in teaching and also enjoys volunteering, coaching, and playing in a band with his wife, recording artist Jackie K, when he is not busy in the classroom.

Kroczynski picked up the award for Best Teacher of 2023 from the North West Best of the Best Awards, among his achievements.

Originally from Saskatoon, Kroczynski has been living in the Battlefords since 2001, being involved in the community.

Kroczynski said he doesn't think the Sask Party is doing a good job, and he believes the NDP could do a better one.

"I think the Saskatchewan NDP party most closely aligns with how I feel the world should be run," he added.

Kroczynski noted he is ready to seek election.

"I've been serving my community both as a volunteer, a coach, directing bands and of course as a teacher. I feel I have more to give as well, not only from my experience, but because the time seemed right...," he said. "I think I have ideas and the energy to help the people of the Battlefords do better."
