Representing the RMs of Tramping Lake and Round Valley, the foursome of Tony Romanowski, Marcel DeRoo, Norman McKenzie and Val Schwab won the provincial Rural Municipality Curling Championships.

Senlac’s snowmobile rally had 103 sleds attend.

The Wilkie Recreation Board hosted a badminton clinic and a cake decorating class.

Renees in Wilkie was advertising boys’ blue jeans for $3.99 a pair, while Superior Shop-Rite in Unity had blade steaks on for 78¢ a pound and eight pounds of California navel oranges for $1.39.

Local referees, Michael Soloski of Unity and Darlene Roth of Denzil were selected to officiate at Hoopla, the high school provincial basketball championships.

The Wilkie Peewee Outlaws won the Hi-way 14 League championship. Team members were Kirk Miller, Rylan Petterson, Robert Cey, Steven Gerein, Rylan Sander, Braidy Delainey, Jared Stark, Sheldon MacKenzie, Chris Pennell, Dylan Pettterson, Evan Eremko, Cody Ulrich, Jarvis Mann, Kayla Hawkins, Matthew Hartter, Connor Fulton and Brandon Basier. The team was coached by Herb Schell and Duane Mann and managed by Joe Cey.

After losing at districts, the UCHS Unity Warriors boys’ basketball team picked up a wild card spot at regionals where they defeated top-ranked Central Christian Academy of Saskatoon and won themselves an unexpected berth at Hoopla. They would go on to come home with provincial bronze medals.
