ESTERHAZY AREA - The RCMP are investigating after a truck was stolen and the suspects fled from police.

On Oct. 7 at approximately 2 p.m., Esterhazy RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from a rural location approximately 15 kilometers north of Esterhazy.

Investigation determined two unknown males in a white Ford F150 with a Honda dirt bike in the back approached a Dodge truck. One of the males exited the white Ford F150 and stole the Dodge truck. Both trucks left the scene.

A third adult male witnessed the theft and followed, driving an SUV, in the direction of the trucks, later locating them in a parking lot in Bredenbury. The driver of the SUV parked in front of the two trucks in an attempt to stop them from leaving. The Dodge truck rammed the SUV and both trucks fled, heading south out of Bredenbury. No injuries were reported to police.

Officers responded and located both the white Ford F150 and the Dodge truck on Grid Road 637. Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted a traffic stop. Both vehicles drove into the ditch to avoid police and fled. Officers continued to follow in the direction of the trucks.

As a result of continued investigation, officers later located the Dodge truck abandoned near Debuc. Investigation has determined a firearm and ammunition were stolen from inside the Dodge truck.

Esterhazy RCMP continue to investigate. Should an imminent risk to public safety be identified, the Saskatchewan RCMP will notify the public.

The RCMP ask anyone with information to contact their local police immediately by calling 310-RCMP (7267) or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
