REGINA - The City of Regina and Global Transportation Hub Authority have struck an agreement to expand bus services for Transit Route 1 to the GTH.

The route currently stops in Westerra, Dieppe, the Downtown and Broad North neighbourhoods and will now have a stop at the GTH. According to the City of Regina, this route will see 16 trips every weekday to the GTH, with 10 trips on Saturday and four on Sundays and holidays.

The bus schedule is being organized around shift changes at the major employer there, the Loblaws Distribution Centre. Also, the city states that service will increase in Westerra through the week and weekends.

“This is another way we are making transit more inclusive, accessible, and safe for all Regina residents,” said Brad Bells, Director of Transit and Fleet for the City of Regina, in a statement.

“GTH employees and Westerra residents will benefit from this forward-thinking partnership.”

"Employees working at the GTH now have a convenient and affordable option to get to and from work,” said Daniel Hersche, CEO of the GTH, in a statement.

“With significant growth projected over the next few years, it’s important to us to provide our tenants and their employees access to services and amenities that optimize their experience with us. Our partnership with the City of Regina is one way we are delivering on this goal.”
