Rifle, machetes, bear spray seized in traffic stop in Saskatoon

SASKATOON - Four people are facing firearms-related charges following a traffic stop, last night.

On April 6 at 10:30 p.m., patrol officers observed a suspicious vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted near 22nd Street West and Diefenbaker Drive.

Four occupants were observed inside the vehicle. A rear passenger was seen attempting to conceal a firearm. All four individuals were subsequently arrested from the vehicle. Police located a rifle and ammunition, two machetes, bear spray and brass knuckles in the possession of the arrested individuals and inside the vehicle.

A 17-year-old male youth, from Prince Albert, is facing six firearm-related offences in addition to carry a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of release.

A 27-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon (x4), possession of a dangerous weapon, carry a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and breach of release.

A 28-year-old Saskatoon woman is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

A 23-year-old woman, from Sturgeon Lake First Nation, is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and carry a concealed weapon.
