PRINCE ALBERT — Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated the learning journey of graduates, along with award recipients, at the Prince Albert campus convocation ceremonies June 6. More than 600 students were invited to attend Prince Albert campus convocation. Sask Polytech Prince Albert graduates are joining a dynamic and diverse alumni network that is more than 150,000 strong.

It is a Sask Polytech convocation tradition to recognize extraordinary graduates, faculty members and community leaders who have demonstrated exceptional achievements and exemplified the institution's vision, mission and values. Jaspreet Sohi was recognized with the Governor General’s Academic Bronze Medal for the highest average in the Prince Albert campus Adult 12 program.
Andrew Goodson, a graduate of the Integrated Resource Management program, is the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic Collegiate Bronze Medal for the highest average at the Prince Albert campus.
Nat Strom, Resource and Environmental Law instructor, received the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. Strom has been an instructor of the program since its inception 20 years ago. Over the years Strom has molded a generation of conservation officers, environmental protection officers, sheriff personnel and police officers who have had and are having exceptional careers in conservation law enforcement agencies across the country.
Rajesh Chandran, a graduate of the Hospitality and Tourism Management post-graduate certificate, was recognized with the Outstanding Citizenship Award. Chandran served as the vice president of Sask Polytech’s Students' Association (SPSA) and as a member of the executive committee of the Federal Student Advocacy Alliance.
Samuel Suchorab, a graduate of the Mental Health and Addictions Counselling program, was recognized with the Student Innovation Award. Suchorab’s essay titled The Cowboy Way: Rodeo and Mental Health, confronts the stigma and toxic masculinity surrounding mental health and addictions.
Sask Polytech awarded an honorary degree in Applied Studies to his Worship, Mayor Greg Dionne.
More than 5,000 students from all four Sask Polytech campuses are expected to graduate this academic year.
Sask Polytech is known for its exceptional graduates and offering high-quality programming. We fuel provincial growth by providing qualified, work-ready graduates to meet labour market demand. This is demonstrated by consistently high graduate employment rates. Sask Polytech currently has a 96 per cent graduate employment rate and 94 per cent Indigenous graduate employment rate. One out of every 24 jobs in Saskatchewan is supported by the activities of Sask Polytech, its students and alumni.
