CES, the world's most awesome technology showcase, starts Monday and I could not be more excited about it. Unsurprisingly, AI is going to be front and centre at this year's show. One of the first examples of practical agentic AI is Samsung's new partnership with Instacart which will enable Samsung’s 2025 Bespoke refrigerators, including the 32-inch AI Family Hub™+ and 9-inch AI Home, to automate grocery shopping.
Using Samsung’s AI Vision Inside technology and Instacart’s product-matching API, the fridge tracks inventory, suggests items, and enables same-day delivery—all from its touchscreen. The feature rolls out in 2025 and will also be available on existing models via a firmware update. While the AI recognizes 37 food items, manual input is still needed for some products.
Is this a paradigm shift or parlour trick? Time — and a firmware update — will tell. -s
