Balancing 1A with AI

A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the enforcement of California’s new AI law, AB 2839, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom less than two weeks ago. The law was designed to target distributors of AI-generated deepfakes on social media, particularly those that depict political candidates in ways that might confuse voters.

Copilot is Getting Better

Microsoft updated its Copilot AI across web, mobile, and desktop platforms, introducing a user-friendly interface and new features like Copilot Voice, which enables conversational interaction with the AI assistant. Additionally, Copilot can be accessed via WhatsApp, offering an alternative to Meta's AI assistant.

Newsom's AI Regulation Veto: Brilliant or Bad?

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has vetoed SB 1047, stating in his veto message that the bill "does not take into account whether an AI system is deployed in high-risk environments, involves critical decision-making or the use of sensitive data."
