ATV driver facing charges following fatal collision

Officers responded along with local EMS and located an injured man, who had been a passenger on the ATV. He was transported to hospital and later declared deceased.

BLACK LAKE - RCMP are investigating after an ATV-related fatality near Black Lake.

On Sept. 23 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Black Lake RCMP received a report of an ATV-related injury on Highway 905 between Black Lake and Stony Rapids.

Officers responded along with local EMS and located an injured man, who had been a passenger on the ATV. He was transported to hospital and later declared deceased. He has been identified as a 31-year-old man from Black Lake. His family has been notified.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s General Investigation Section assisted in this investigation.

No other injuries were reported to police. As a result of further investigation, the driver of the ATV was arrested.

Jacy Yooya, 30, from Black Lake, is charged with: dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death; criminal negligence causing death without firearm; resist/obstruct peace officer; failure to stop after accident resulting in death.

Jacy Yooya is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 26.

Black Lake RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
