COCHIN — Laughter will be on the menu as the Cochin Community Players (CCP) stage a production of Robin Hawdon’s “Perfect Wedding,” coming to the Cochin Community Hall Nov. 29 and 30, and Dec.1, 5, 6, 7 (sold out) and 8.

Like audiences have come to expect from Cochin’s Christmas dinner theatre, this play is a true farce which will leave you gasping to catch your breath. The non-stop action tells the story of Bill the groom and the aftermath of his stag night at an Italian hotel. Alternate identities cause mass confusion and lead to quick thinking wit between the housekeeper and the best man and his girlfriend, while trying to keep the truth from the bride (and her overbearing, anxious mother). This is one story you won’t want to miss.

The play features direction from the always talented Tanya Montoya, who directed the 2023 spring show and who has also acted for CCP, most recently in the 2022 Christmas production of  “Lie, Cheat, and Genuflect” as the drunken sex-crazed maid.

The familiar cast features Clint Barrett (also from the 2022 Christmas production as the role of cross-dressing nun Billy Buckle), Danielle Barrett (the exercising lady from this spring’s production of “Looking”), Jim Walls (a long-standing CCP member, most recently on stage last fall in Cemetery Club) and Cheryl Olson (who made her CCP debut this spring in “Looking”).

Newcomer to CCP Jeanna Walker expertly plays the role of the demanding bride, bringing sassy class to the stage. Rounding out the cast as the bride’s mother we welcome back Donna Slowski, who was previously in CCP productions earlier in the century.

A CCP production has more than just exceptional entertainment – there is also delicious food. Chefs Kendra Young and Craig Watters of locally owned catering company KC’s Kitchen will fill your plates with a delectable assortment of savoury goods for both the dinner and brunch (Sundays) theatres. KC’s Kitchen has been catering the CCP productions for several years and never disappoint. One can wash down this mouth-watering meal with a selection of festive cheer from the CCP bar – please plan a safe ride home.

Your tickets can be acquired for $50 each (includes all mandatory taxes) by emailing [email protected] (preferred), reaching out to the cast or by phone at 306-480-9333. Tickets are still available for most performances, and if you’re looking to be closer to the action the best seats can currently be found for the Thursday, Dec. 5 production.

There is no abeyance on amusement so come on up to Cochin and join us for an entertaining evening.
