Man charged with assault with a weapon following Saskatoon altercation

When a man grabbed a pair of scissors and began swinging them around, police deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon.

SASKATOON - A man has been charged with assault with a weapon following an altercation in Saskatoon on Wednesday.

At 9:47 a.m., Saskatoon Police Service received a report of a man causing issues at a home in the 1100 Block of Avenue D North. The man was charged following an altercation.

When police arrived, they located the man and informed him he needed to go to the hospital in accordance with the Mental Health Act.  

After searching him, police found he had a knife.

During this process, the man became physical with police. He grabbed a pair of scissors and began swinging them around. Police then deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) and arrested the man.

The 23 year old has been charged with assault with a weapon, and was found to have failed to comply with court-ordered conditions.

Police did not disclose the name of the accused.
