NORTH BATTLEFORD — A 31-year-old man was transported to hospital after going into medical distress shortly after being arrested by Battlefords RCMP on the weekend.

On April 19, RCMP officers determined the man, who was wanted on warrants related to investigations from March and October 2023, was inside a residence on 107th Street in North Battleford. When the suspect refused to come out, police secured the area to ensure public safety.

With assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, officers executed a warrant and began searching the home. The man was found hiding in the attic and was arrested, but shortly after, he experienced medical distress.

Emergency Medical Services were called, and officers provided initial aid before the man was transported to hospital for treatment.

As required under The Police Act, 1990, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been notified. Under SIRT oversight, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Provincial General Investigation Section will examine the RCMP's interaction with the man and the circumstances surrounding his medical condition.
