Mayfair and District News: Farmer working hard at 92 years

Former resident would welcome visitors at Stonebridge Crossing in Saskatoon.

MAYFAIR — Imagine we are over halfway into the last calendar month as readers get this paper. During the winter months, my report will be every two weeks.

Birthday greetings to a 92-year-old who still farms near Mullingar. Gordon Kennedy hasn't slowed down much and is always able to give a helping hand to a neighbour. There was a large gathering at Rabbit Lake Hall for this special celebration. Most of his children and family were in attendance.

My close farm neighbour whom I dearly miss moved to a Shell Lake independent seniors’ complex approximately six years ago. Since summer, Shirley Lamontagne has relocated to Stonebridge Crossing ( seniors’ living) and would certainly like to see Whitkow, Rabbit Lake and Mayfair friends. So if you happen to go to Saskatoon find the time because she will treasure your visit.

The large recreation centre that Spiritwood constructed almost 10 years ago houses the skating rink; curling rink; bowling alley and mezzanine and has been a blessing for the surrounding area of at least 50 miles. Spiritwood Area Rec Culture, Sport Incorporated also maintains the town's parks. For bookings please call 306-883-2088 or the recreation department at 306-883-3176.

Merry Christmas everyone and all the best for a healthy, safe prosperous 2025. Every year keeps flying by.
