RCMP looking for thieves who pointed firearm at witness

If you see the suspects or suspects’ vehicle, do not approach them.

CUT KNIFE – A witness who followed a vehicle whose passengers were suspected of a gas and dash found themselves at gunpoint Saturday.

If anyone sees the suspects they are not to approach them. Police say if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, they will notify the public.

On Aug. 10, at approximately 3 p.m., Cut Knife RCMP received a report of a theft at a business on Frontage Road in Cut Knife. Two males had driven away without paying for their fuel.

RCMP say a witness followed their vehicle to the Sweetgrass First Nation area. A short time later the suspect’s vehicle pulled over and the occupants pointed a firearm at the witness. No injuries were reported.

Cut Knife RCMP and neighbouring detachments started working to locate the suspects. At approximately 4 p.m. Battlefords RCMP officers observed the suspect vehicle on Sweetgrass First Nation. They attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle did not stop. Officers continue working to locate the vehicle and suspects.

The suspects are believed to be driving a silver 2017 Toyota Camry with Alberta license plate E16 163, and investigation indicated that the suspects had been involved in an armed robbery in Leduc, Alta., earlier that day.

Investigation has also determined the vehicle was stolen from the Edmonton area on Aug. 7.

The two suspects are described as male, South Asian with thin builds and trimmed beards. Both have a medium complexion and dark hair. One is described as six feet with curly hair.

If you see the suspects or suspects’ vehicle, do not approach them. Saskatchewan RCMP is asking members of the public to report any information on the suspects’ whereabouts by calling 310-RCMP or your local police of jurisdiction. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
