Update: Three people found dead; appears to be targeted incident

LLOYDMINSTER - Update: RCMP have provided more information about the incident in which three people were found deceased in Lloydminster, Sask.

On Sept. 11 at about 5:51 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP were called to a home in the vicinity of 50^th Street and 47^th Avenue for a well-being check. Upon entering the residence, officers located three deceased individuals.

While police say they cannot confirm their identities, the cause of death, or other investigative details at this time, it appears that this was a targeted and isolated incident. There is no immediate concern for the safety of the public.

Since the beginning of the investigation, there has been a large police presence around the home, and this will continue as expert investigators, from both Alberta and Saskatchewan, diligently work to solve this crime.

"We understand the fears and anxieties that come along with seeing additional police officers in your community, but Alberta RCMP want to assure you that we are trying to bring a swift resolution to this unfortunate incident," police said in the release. "Alberta RCMP would like to give our sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of these individuals. This is a profound loss of life for the family, and the wider community."  

Police confirmed to SaskToday the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Original post: Lloydminster RCMP is investigating after three people were discovered deceased in the city.

On Sept. 11, RCMP responded to a report of three individuals who were located deceased in a house.

The incident occurred on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster.

There will be an increased a police presence in the area of 50th Street and 47th Avenue as Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues their investigation.

There is no risk to the public at this time.
