Youth facing charges in armed robbery in North Battleford

A 17-year-old male youth from North Battleford is charged with robbery and a series of weapons charges.

NORTH BATTLEFORD - A teen is facing charges in an armed robbery in North Battleford.

On July 12 at about 3:15 p.m., Battlefords RCMP responded after receiving a report of a robbery on 107th Street.

After investigating, police determined a man was out walking when a grey SUV approached him. A group of individuals, wearing black face masks and armed with machetes and a firearm exited the SUV and approached the man. The suspects pointed a firearm at him and demanded his wallet. The man did not report any physical injuries to police.

Later, while responding to a call for service in the 4th Avenue area in Battleford on July 14, Battlefords RCMP noticed one of the suspects in the robbery and arrested him.

A 17-year-old male youth from North Battleford is charged with robbery with a firearm; fail or refuse to comply; possess weapon contrary to order; pointing a firearm; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon or restricted weapon.

The youth cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
