Bjorkdale News: Local youth participate in the arts

Bjorkdale youth participated in the Wadena Dance Craze competition, P.A. Aerial Gymnastic Competition and the Melfort Music Festival.

BJORKDALE — The Wadena Dance Craze competition was held on March 11 and 12 with a few Bjorkdale kids participating.

Mirra Currey and Abby Van Oirschot participated in under 16 hip hop and placed gold for their performance. Sarah Goldsworthy performed in pre junior ballet and their group placed silver for their performance. Sarah also dances in pre junior jazz as well. It was a very well-organized event and with 10 communities competing. Next up for the dancers will be the Tisdale Dance competition from April 27 to 30.

Local Bjorkdale kids also participated in the P.A. Aerial Gymnastic competition. Jordice Selensky won bronze for intermediate 2, Madysin won silver for intermediate 2 and Ellie Tsaprailis won silver in intermediate 2 as well. They all competed in bars, floor, beam and vault.

Bjorkdale local Eva Tsaprailis participated in the Melfort Music Festival from March 13 to 20. Eva played in two non-competitive classes and played very well. Ellie competed in two piano classes and four violin classes. Ellie won both her piano classes and one of her violin classes.

The Bjorkdale Minor Hockey Association organized their windup on Sunday, March 19 at the Bjorkdale skating rink. They organized a parent vs kid’s game, had a shoot out, pizza party and awards, medals and thank you’s to end the season. Awards and medals were handed out to each of the kids. The parents thanked coaches Marty Horn and Orin Bratton and manager Nicole Goldsworthy for volunteering their time. Tyson Wearing was also thanked for organizing the officials for all the games. It was an afternoon that was enjoyed by all.
