New Humboldt council takes oath of office at first meeting

The new council and mayor will be meeting for the 2025 budget deliberations on Dec. 2.

HUMBOLDT – The new City of Humboldt council met for the first time to take their oath of office on Nov. 25 

During the swearing-in ceremony, Returning Officer Mike Ulriksen announced the official election results. Rob Muench was declared the winner with 989 votes. 

The new council are: Karen Siermachesky, Marilyn Scott, Larry Jorgenson, Roger Korte, Dave Rowe and Sarah McInnis 

Newly elected mayor, Muench thanked the new council for putting their names forward for council, for being elected and accepting their new roles with the City of Humboldt. 

The mayor and new councillors all took their oath of office prior to the start of their first regular meeting of council. 

At the meeting they approved the schedule for deputy mayor which assigns each councillor an eight-month term in which they are responsible to act as chair of the executive committee meeting, bylaws, authorize payments, and act as the city representative in the mayor’s absence. 

The deputy mayor schedule is as follows:  

Larry Jorgenson - Nov. 25, 2024 to July 31, 2025  

Roger Korte - Aug. 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026  

Marilyn Scott - April 1, 2026 to Nov. 30, 2026  

Dave Rowe- Dec. 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027  

Sarah McInnis - Aug. 1, 2027 to March 31, 2028  

Karen Siermachesky - April 1, 2025 to approx. Nov. 24, 2028 

The new council and mayor will be meeting for the 2025 budget deliberations on Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at city hall.
