MELFORT – The City of Melfort has a new ice resurfacer. Brandt Agriculture donated $100,000 for the new purchase for the arena in Melfort.
Mayor Glenn George said, “The City of Melfort would like to thank Brandt for their sponsorship of the new Olympia ice resurfacer.”
Brandt representatives joined Mayor Glenn George, Councillor Tara Muntain, and Fire Chief Leonard Whitney on the ice at the Dec. 21 Melfort Mustangs game.
Rob Lok, Director of Community Services, said the old resurfacer was from 2003. The new ice resurfacer cost $185,000.
"We received delivery of the new resurfacer the second week of December 2024, and it was implemented into use within a week."
Melfort Minor Hockey has over 14 minor hockey teams with approximately 175 players Brad Hicks, Melfort’s referee in chief. Melfort Minor hockey hosts approximately 100 regular season games at the Palace and an additional 25 for playoffs.
