Zacharias elected as Nipawin mayor

Zacharias won the byelection with 50.56 per cent of the vote.

Marlon Zacharias has been elected mayor of Nipawin in a Oct. 18 byelection.

NIPAWIN — The votes for the Nipawin mayoral byelection have been declared. Marlon Zacharias has been elected as the mayor for the Town of Nipawin. 

”I want to thank the voters and I hope to bring back trust to the Town of Nipawin,” Zacharias told SASKTODAY.ca

A total of 1,068 people voted in the Oct. 18 byelection. The Town of Nipawin estimates there were 3,645 eligible voters, making the turnout for the byelection 29.3 per cent.

Zacharias will be sworn in at the next regular council meeting scheduled for Oct. 23.
