Blaine Lake Composite honours all students

Each student at Blaine Lake Composite School has received a t-shirt to commemorate the community's 100th year.

Blaine Lake Composite School (BLCS) held its annual awards presentation June 18 in the school gymnasium. A school barbecue lunch was held following the awards and each student received a BLCS shirt commemorating the town's and rural municipality's centennial celebrations.

All students were commended on achieving a "personal best" in a successful academic year and, despite the fact not every student can receive an award, each student was acknowledged for their individual dedication, commitment and school spirit.

Achieving honour roll status with averages of 80 per cent to 89 per cent were Grade 6 students Abby Fiala, Emily Fiala, Terry Peters, Wyatt Radics, Austin Sherstobetoff and Dyson Welkie; Grade 7 students Amelia Boissoneau, Kiara Desjardins, Erica Horner and River Janzen; Grade 8 students Brandi Cameron, Cody Dicus, Erin Fleury, Dieter Mielczarek, Micah Redlich and Garrett Greyeyes; Grade 9 students Jade Martens, Chris Lozochuk, Dylan Pool, Jadon Pool, Tenille Robin and Brandon Szwydky; Grade 10 students Taralyn Donohue, Erin Peake, Anna Verbonac and Jennifer Weber; Grade 11 students Dalton Clouthier, Hannah Dicus, Tori Frank, Hannah Redlich, Jessica Willick and Codie Yasieniuk; Grade 12 students Kyle Robin, Curtis Peake and Clay Casavant.

Students achieving honour roll status of 90 per cent and higher were Grade 10 student Danyelle Hoehne and Grade 12 students Alex Timm and Shelley Clouthier.

Highest academic achievement awards were presented to Emily Fiala, Grade 6; Erica Horner, Grade 7; Cody Dicus, Grade 8; Brandon Szwydky, Grade 9; Danyelle Hoehne, Grade 10; and Codie Yasieniuk, Grade 11.

Most improved student awards were presented to Brayden Sharron, Grade 5; Kelsey Davey, Grade 6; Jasmin Martens, Grade 7; Micah Redlich, Grade 8; Thomas Lozochuk, Grade 9; Harold Lafond, Grade 10; and Challen Bowering, Grade 11.

Outstanding effort awards were presented to Abby Fiala, Grade 6; River Janzen, Grade 7; Dieter Mielczarek, Grade 8; Jade Kasper, Grade 9; Jennifer Weber and Tristan Zinn, Grade 10; Dalton Clouthier, Grade11; and Clay Casavant, Grade 12.

Recipients of the outstanding school spirit awards included Austin Sherstobetoff, Grade 6; Amelia Boissoneau and Ethan Verbonac, Grade 7; Brandi Cameron and Cody Dicus, Grade 8; Michael Horner, Grade 9; Danyelle Hoehne, Grade 10; Hannah Redich, Hannah Dicus, Codie Yasieniuk and Jessica Willick, Grade 11; and Alex Timm, Grade 12.

Grade 12 student Shelley Clouthier accepted the D.A Popoff Mathematics Award and the RM of Blaine Lake Proficiency Award.

Grade 12 students Alex Timm and Shelley Clouthier shared the acceptance of the A.P Postnikoff Proficiency Award.

The P. Cheveldayoff Home Economics Award for Division 3 went to Tenille Robin, and for Divsion 4 to Taralyn Donohue. The Division 3 Proficiency Award went to Dylan Pool. Kyle Robin received the Good Fellowship Award.

Junior Athlete of the Year Award went to Brandon Szwydky and Erica Horner. The Senior Athlete of the Year Award was presented to Chase Crawford and Anna Verbonac.

Rookie of the Year Football Award went to Michael Horner and the Fighting Heart Award went to Nolan Jessop.
