What better way to spend a summer weekend than to drive down winding roads past glimmering lakes, lush forests, refreshing coulees and imposing canyons and finding the surprises and hidden talents you didn't know were there.

This year 14 artists are inviting you into their homes and/or studios near Glaslyn, Medstead, Belbutte, Glenbush, Livelong, Mervin and Turtle Lake.

For more information visit www.northernhorizons.ca, or pick up a brochure complete with a map, directions and commentary on individual artists available from businesses, art galleries and information centers in the area.

You can visit the artists in any order. Just check the artists' locations on the map provided in the brochure. You will find art of great variety: acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings, paintings on silk, ceramics, wood furniture, woven and hooked rugs, stationary, knitting, soaps, unique doilies with beads, handcrafted silver and beadwork jewelry and accessories, pottery, Ukrainian crafts ( and food), cut aluminum designs, graphite and coloured pencil works depicting landscapes, flowers, portraits, abstracts and more.

This is a self-guided tour so take as much time as you like at each studio and visit with the artist. As an extra bonus you may see Barb's buffalo, elk and miniature ponies, Lavonne and Thompson's beautiful gardens, Jay and Karlie's unique mosaic around their front door, Dale and Laura's bonsai tea garden, Debbie's deck where you may eat perogies, and other gems of creativity to be discovered on the journey.
