HUMBOLDT — Kat Schlosser is seeking online votes to be on the cover of Inked Magazine for their Cover Girl contest.
The winner of the poll gets an all-expense paid shoot to be on the cover of the magazine – which focuses on all things tattoo related, as well as $25,000.
Schlosser said if she wins, she will donate $5,000 of it to the Humboldt SPCA, which she works at as a volunteer.
This is her second year competing, almost making it to the semi-finals in 2019.
“I saw it this year and I thought maybe I can get a little bit further than last year, maybe I can get in the semi-finals,” Schlosser said. “It’s pretty big so I think it could be a great accomplishment if I could make it to the end this time.”
Currently, she has 11 pieces tattooed across her body with most on her arms and hands, with no two being done by the same artist. This took about 70 hours of work, costing a total of what she estimates to be between $10,000 to $15,000.
“I always liked the look of people with tattoos when I was a kid, I had those temporary stick-on on all the time. So when I was 18 I had my first tattoo, and I was hooked,” Schlosser said. “I like being a canvass and displaying my art on my body.”
Her first piece was a music note behind her ear and a paw print on her foot.
“Something super small and girly turned into a bigger commitment later in life,” she said. “My favourite is probably my tree and moon sleeve on my arm.”

When asked if there was any tattoo artist she recommended, Schlosser said she’s been interested in going to Humboldt Ink, where she wants to get either a camera for her love of photography or something involving the moon phases and witchy vibes.
“I’ll give him a shout out, because I’ve seen his work and it’s pretty awesome,” she said. “I kind of go here, there and everywhere.”
