Celebrating August birthdays at a Borden Seniors' supper Aug. 27 are Audrey Baker, Reuben Derksen and Ann Kohut.

Twenty-three members of the Borden Friendship Club travelled to Maymont Aug. 21 for an afternoon of musical entertainment and a delicious ham and scalloped potato supper. Entertaining were Ben and Lorraine Stenerson of Sonningdale, along with Mel Deagnon on guitar and singing, Bert Carpentier playing his clackers and Tom Caldwell on harmonica. Mel and Sarah Beaudoin told a few stories and jokes and past-president Kay Greenslade, who moved to Battleford in the fall of 2013, spoke of her 18 years as president and wished the club well for the future.

Borden Friendship Club held their potluck supper and birthday celebaration Aug. 27, with 32 members and guests out to enjoy the bountiful supper, sing Happy Birthday to Ann Kohut, Audrey Baker and Reuben Derksen and to enjoy cake and ice cream brought by Anna Elliot and Lorraine Olinyk.

Entertaining for the evening were Helmey and Arnie Loewen of North Battleford and their daughter Lorna Zimmerman from Regina, who accompanied them on some of the songs. They sang a variety of songs from country to old time favourites and a few gospel tunes. Arnie showed his skills on the banjo, fiddle and harmonica with a few instrumentals with his wife playing guitar. Ed Neufeld joined in on two songs playing the fiddle.

Now that summer is over it's time to get back in to the routine of meetings and the next one for the Seniors' Club is Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Borden Threshing Day is coming up on Sept. 27, with gates open at 10 a.m. at the site two miles north of the Borden Cemetery. Parade of power is at noon, with events to follow and threshing around 2 p.m. The cook car will be open for borsch, soup, bread and jam along with beverages, Events at the field using mainly horse drawn equipment will wrap up around 4 p.m., then a roast beef supper is served by the light of coal oil lanterns at the Borden Community Centre from 5 - 7 p.m. While you wait to be called to eat there will be music playing in the Seniors' Centre or you can visit the museum across the street. The Museum will be having a 50/50 draw. The club is hoping to have the steam engine from the Saskatoon WDM again to run the threshing machine, but haven't confirmed for sure.

After completing the renos on the interior of the Model T Bar and Grille at Borden, Tony and Helen Beaudry are now renovating the exterior in brown trim with cream siding going up soon on the west and south side for now. They have installed all new windows and some doors, and they are using colors that were on the exterior from the 1920s and 30s.

Radisson OORP met Sept. 1 with six members present. A change of name and what that entails elicited lively discussion. After Dec. 31 we will called the Canadian Royal Purple Society and be incorporated, separate from the Elks Association. The lodge will be doing the Remembrance Day service. Happy Birthday was sung to Audrey Baker and the lodge raffle went to Lorraine Olinyk.
