HUMBOLDT — This school year, Humboldt’s St. Dominic School will have an extra reason to celebrate, with this year being their 60th anniversary.
Chad Knaus, the school’s principal, said they will be taking the time to celebrate throughout the year.
Knaus urged the Humboldt community to keep their eyes open for upcoming events, including a welcome back barbecue on Sept. 11, as well as fundraisers coming up to help St. Dominic complete their playground goals.
This year will see the school complete the final phase of refurbishing their senior playground, Knaus said, which has taken years of fundraising and construction to get to this final stage.
The principal said only $8,000 is needed to finish the project.
This will also be another year for student athletes to shine, whether on the field, track or court, with St. Dominic being represented in all division sports.
“[We will] continue to have students grow and learn the sports along with learning the responsible behaviors that go along with competing in the events.”
St. Dominic School will have one change in staffing as teacher Heather Strueby will be going on maternity leave for the upcoming school year. New arrival and former Humboldt student, Indiana Wormald, will take Strueby’s place.
Knaus said they are grateful for the continued support of parents and the school community council throughout the school year, as well as the positive, ongoing relationship with the St. Augustine Parish.
“We look forward to working with all of them,” Knaus said.
