53-year-old man involved in Highway 3 rollover

STARS came, but decided it was not medically required to take the man to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon by helicopter.

STARS Air Ambulance attended the scene of a rollover near Tisdale on Aug 10, but determined it was not medically required to evacuate the 53-year-old man by air.

TISDALE — A 53-year-old man was involved in a single vehicle rollover on Highway 3 west of the Eldersley turnoff east of Tisdale. STARS attended but didn’t evacuate the patient.

Tisdale RCMP said they were called to the scene 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 10, along with Tisdale Fire and Ambulance. STARS was dispatched at 9:31 a.m.

Police said the man was treated at the scene.

The highway was blocked for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the helicopter to land.

STARS said on Aug. 12 they determined it was not medically required to take the man to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon by helicopter. The man was transported away by EMS.

A RCMP collision reconstructionist was at the scene.

The scene was cleared at around 1:30 p.m.

 

Correction

This story has been updated from an earlier version that said the man was evacuated by helicopter by STARS. STARS confirmed Aug. 12 they attended the scene but they determined it was not medically take the man to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon by helicopter.
