For Adrian Chutskoff, his brother’s 2007 Chevy HHR was special.
After brother, Alex, committed suicide in 2014 because of being bullied, Adrian saw the car as a way to spread the anti-bullying message.
Along with father, Dale, they remodeled the car with a pink paint job and green flames and took it all over Saskatchewan and Alberta, telling Alex’s story. This included local car shows around the Humboldt area.
“We had attended a hand full of shows and enjoyed speaking about our story to folks who took time out of their day to stop. I was amazed how many people have been affected by bullying,” said Dale in a recent email.
Unfortunately, people will not be able to see the PT Cruiser around or talk to Adrian and Dale.
June 6, Adrian was involved in a rollover with the vehicle, and while he walked away with only a few scratches, the car was lost, reported Dale on Facebook.
“We had more plans to go further this summer but due to his accident unfortunately it won’t happen,” said Dale in a recent email.
Redoing the car to continue spreading the anti-bullying message is a huge undertaking, especially when finding sponsors and donors to help up with expenses.
Dale still wants people to know that bullying affects everyone, young and old.
UPDATE: In a previous version of the story, it was stated that Alex's vehicle was a PT Cruiser. We apologize for any confusion.
