Armed and barricaded incident in North Battleford concludes

NORTH BATTLEFORD — Battlefords RCMP say the public the police operation responding to an armed and barricaded situation Sunday evening has concluded.

As a result of this operation, one adult male was taken into custody without incident.

All RCMP officers and additional resources have cleared the scene.

Police officers believe there is no risk to public safety at this point relating to this situation.

The investigation is ongoing.

At 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Battlefords RCMP advised they were responding to an armed and barricaded situation in an apartment building of the 2400-block Killdeer Street, in the northwest corner of the city of North Battleford.

There was a heavy police presence and RCMP secured the area surrounding the apartment building. Efforts to negotiate with the barricaded male were ongoing at the time of the statement.

To ensure public safety, police officers were asking members of the public to avoid the area.
