A warrant for the arrest of a man charged in connection to a major drug bust north of Biggar where an RCMP officer was shot, was issued June 30.
Kurt Miller, 39, failed to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court June 30. Miller owns the rural home 27 kilometres north of Biggar in the R. M. of Glenside that was raided by RCMP.
During the raid an RCMP officer was shot. The Saskatchewan RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit executed the search warrant shortly before midnight on May 14. The officer had non-life-threatening injuries and no officer fired back during the incident.
Regina Police arrested Miller during a traffic stop on May 14 before the raid. In that incident he was charged with possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breach of probation.Â
Miller was released on bail June 2.Â
During the raid of Miller’s rural home, police seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, GHB, Xanax pills and LSD. They also seized numerous weapons including a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun, a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun, a spent anti-tank weapons, a revolver and body armour. They also found $16,080 in Canadian currency, money counters, packaging for drugs, eight cell phones, computers and tablets.Â
Miller’s co-accused, Mitch Hutchinson, who was arrested at the rural house, also had an appearance scheduled in Saskatoon Provincial Court June 30 on numerous weapons and drug-related charges in connection to the raid. Hutchinson still hasn’t been released and his show cause hearing continues July 2 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.Â
