The week of Oct. 6-12, 2019, has been proclaimed Fire Prevention Week in the City of North Battleford, and a typical high point of the week is the annual noon-hour beef on a bun held Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the fire hall. This event provided an opportunity for members of the public to enjoy a $5 roast beef, cole slaw and cake lunch at the fire hall, served by the local firefighters. Proceeds went to the North Battleford Fire Fighter Association Local 1756 Charity Fund. It was also an opportunity for local residents to check out the fire equipment and information displays. The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape, Plan and Practice – Your Escape,” raising awareness of the need for everyone to have an escape plan in case of a fire.
