The Delta Co-op proudly held the grand re-opening of its C-Store, July 21. The C-Store originally opened in 2000.

In 2008 it hit the $7 million mark making it the most profitable department of Delta Co-op. The renovation was proposed in 2009, however, due to economic constraints in 2010, it was decided to postpone the project until 2011. The project was initiated as a result of the need for more space due to the sales growth in this department. The C-Store employs 11 staff including the manager and assistant manager.

Thanks to contractor Lyle Schell from the Battlefords and local sub-contractors, Kevin Ackerland and Heitt's, the store now has a modern and fresh look. The Co-op expects 2011 to surpass their expectations with over 10 million in sales. The C-Store serves quality Van Houtte coffee with water filtration. They have now added convenience items as well as the new F'real Milkshakes and Smoothies. The Van Houtte coffee van was on hand at the opening, serving complimentary, various blends of their coffee.

All speakers at the grand re-opening complimented the Co-op for moving forward, thanked the staff for working through the renovations and thanked the customers for patience during these renovations. Guests from Federated Co-op included: Beryl Bauer, district director; DerekWasserman, regional petroleum manager; Nick Pawluk, RSC; Edwin Kanak, regional food sales centre; and David Crowell, retail advisor.

Delta Co-op was also pleased to be joined by Mayor Sylvia Maljan as well as chamber president Gerald Hauta. Cooper, the Co-op's mascot was on hand to greet customers. Some members of the Co-op board of directors, along with some office staff, helped cook and serve barbecue items. Lindsay and Lisa, manager and assistant manager, manned the 'wheel of fortune' for visitors to try their luck for a prize on opening day.

General Manager Joe Redekopp announced that, as of November 1 , 2011, Wilkie Co-op will become part of the Delta Co-op family. Up until this point Delta had a management and accounting agreement with Wilkie Co-op, but a recent member vote passed the amalgamation of the two.
