Calgary man sentenced in Meadow Lake court on drugs, weapon charges

MEADOW LAKE – A Calgary man charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences was sentenced in Meadow Lake court Thursday to time served.

Yeamet Obong, now 23, was arrested in August after La Loche RCMP raided a home on Raphael Street. At the residence, police seized more than $4,000 in cash, more than half a pound of cocaine, 15 grams of fentanyl, quantities of other drugs, and numerous fake identification and cell phones.

Obong was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, using/trafficking, possession of a forged document, and failing to comply with a release order.

At the time of Obong's arrest in Saskatchewan, he was wanted by Calgary Police on numerous firearms, drug trafficking, and 15 fail to comply with release condition charges.
