North Battleford residents are encouraged to get their teams in for a special contest on July 1.
The City of North Battleford 2013 Centennial Committtee is organizing an Amazing Race to take place that day.
The idea is loosely based on the TV show, except it will be 20 teams of four who will be taking part in a race for $20,000. It is a featured component of Homecoming Week.
The race will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. at the Battlefords Exhibition Grounds. The first team to place at the end of each leg will win prizes supplied by local merchants and businesses.
"You can feel the excitement in the community as more and more people learn about the race and the city's centennial Canada Day celebrations," said race organizer Shirley Maze in a news release.
The registration deadline is May 30, but those seeking to enter the race are encouraged to select their team members quickly as the event is limited to the first 20 teams.
The entrance fee is $800 per team, and team members must be over 16 years of age. At least one team member must have a valid drivers' licence.
In addition to the race a number of activities are planned for the Exhibition Grounds on July 1 including a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m.
There will be live bands playing as well as food vendors and a beer gardens. Children's activities are also planned. The celebrations will conclude with a fireworks show at night.
