LLOYDMINSTER – All weapons-related charges have been dropped against 36-year-old Courtlin Littlewolfe and his two co-accused in Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court.
Littlewolfe, along with 18-year-old Rene Singer of Lloydminster, Alta., and 34-year-old Crystal Heathen of Lloydminster, Sask., were arrested on Sept. 13, 2022.
Littlewolfe was charged with possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and possession of a loaded non-restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a non-restricted firearm without a license, storing prohibited firearm and non-restricted firearm in careless manner, possession of readily accessible ammunition, possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited, and resisting a peace officer.
Singer and Heathen were charged with seven weapons-related offences.
A stay of proceedings of all charges against the three were entered in Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court in November. The Crown doesn’t have to tell the court why a stay of proceedings is being entered. A stay generally happens when there isn’t enough evidence or witnesses don’t cooperate. The Crown can bring the charges back to life within one year but this rarely happens.
According to court documents, Courtlin Kayne Clive Johnson Littlewolfe, of Onion Lake, Sask., also goes by the name of Courtlin Clive Whitstone.
Earlier this year, weapons and drug trafficking charges were also dropped against Littlewolfe in Lloydminster Alberta Provincial Court.
Littlewolfe was charged following a police pursuit in Lloydminster in January 2021. When police searched his vehicle following the chase through the city, they found more than $47,000 in drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, more than $8,000 in Canadian currency, a handgun, ammunition, a knife, and red paisley bandanas generally worn by Westside Outlaws street gang. All those charges were dropped in Lloydminster Alberta Provincial Court in March.
Littlewolfe, however, was sentenced in Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court in March to 10 months in jail after he had pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of a peace officer, three counts of failing to appear in court, and driving while prohibited in three separate incidents.
The court heard that on Jan. 11, 2021, Lloydminster RCMP were on patrol and tried to arrest Littlewolfe on outstanding warrants when they saw him in an alley but he took off running and wasn’t arrested.
On July 3, 2021, while on patrol, the Lloydminster RCMP saw Littlewolfe and knew he was on an order not to be in Lloydminster. He refused to stop for police and drove off.
On Aug. 31, 2021, police saw Littlewolfe driving a vehicle in Lloydminster that had expired registration and insurance. Littlewolfe took off and the vehicle drove towards an RCMP officer who had to avoid being struck. At the time, Littlewolfe was bound by release orders to remain in Alberta and abide by a curfew.
