North Battleford's Parks, Recreation, Culture and Heritage Committee met Monday and approved four community grant during the session.
The grants approved consisted of $450 to the Battlefords Music Teachers Assocation, who requested assistance to operate a beginner band workshop to introduce students to new instruments and provide a specialized instructor to work with them.
A grant of $688 was approved for the recreation department, who sought assistance to offer free fitness classes to promote the fall recreation registration. That gave participants the opportunity to try different types of classes they may not have participated in before.
John Paul II Collegiate was approved for assistance for their music theatre project. The project involves students from all backgrounds in the production of a musical, which is described as a community builder within the school and also benefits the community at large.
And finally, Lawrence Elementary School was approved for assistance with respect to an Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Council performance titled Fizzical Fizzicks. This involves circus routines used to demonstrate principles of science and motion. The goal for that performance is to install students with the thrill of circus and the wonder of science.
