Credit Union merger meetings planned

A series of information meetings are planned with respect to the proposed merger of Conexus, Innovation and Synergy Credit Unions.

A series of information meetings are planned with respect to the proposed merger of Conexus, Innovation and Synergy Credit Unions.

The meetings are to be held across the province from November 22 though December 7, each in separate communities where the credit unions operate.

In a statement, Innovation Credit Union's board president Gord Lightfoot said the meetings are "an important chance for members to learn more about the merger and how it will benefit our members, our employees and the communities we serve."

Innovation Credit Union plans to hold six meetings across its areas of operation. The meeting in North Battleford is set for November 29 at St. Joseph Hall at 7pm. The meeting in Glaslyn is set for December 1 at Glaslyn School, also at 7pm.

Synergy Credit Union is holding four meetings, with the meeting in Lashburn set for November 22 at 7:30pm at the community hall, Lloydminster on November 30 at the Stockade Convention Centre, and St. Walburg on December 2 at 7:30pm at the Elks Hall.

Conexus plans also five meetings between November 22 and December 7 in their region.

The information meetings are in advance of a final vote on the merger to take place between January 24 and 26, 2011. The merger must receive the approval of 75 percent of the members of each credit union in order to go ahead.
