EAST CENTRAL โ€” Cumberland College and Parkland College have selected a new joint president.

Mark Hoddenbagh is starting the job on July 2.

According to a release by both colleges, Hoddenbagh has a wide range of experience in numerous fields connected to post-secondary education, including strategic planning, applied research, indigenous strategy and business development.

"We're really excited to have him and have somebody that is of a rock star caliber the way he is,โ€ said Corinna Stevenson, the co-chair of the collegesโ€™ joint board of directors.

Hoddenbagh will be part of a two-year trial that will see him lead two colleges that operate separately but have the same president and board of directors.

โ€œHe's excited to lead that challenge and we'll see potentially what can happen in the sector as well,โ€ Stevenson said. โ€œI just really appreciate that about him: heโ€™s really agile and heโ€™s at a place in his career where he can choose things that really excite him, even if there are some challenges.โ€

Hoddenbagh replaces Tom Weegar, who resigned as president of Cumberland College in March 2018 and Dwayne Reeve, who resigned as president of Parkland College in July 2018.
