Diesel spill disrupts morning traffic

A fuel spill on Highway 16 and Battleford Road disrupted traffic this morning. RCMP say a ruptured semi tanker was leaking fuel in the vicinity of the Battlefords Superstop. The call about the spill came in at 5:50 a.m.

RCMP say a ruptured semi tanker was leaking fuel in the vicinity of the Battlefords Superstop. The call about the spill came in at 5:50 a.m. City hall reports approximately 300 litres of diesel fuel leaked from a tank on a tractor trailer unit at Highway 16 and Battleford Road this morning. NBFES says the driver stopped after noticing the damaged tank. The City Public Works Department and Department of Highways poured sand to contain fuel to the road. The spill has been contained and contaminated sand is being appropriately disposed of.
