Drug trafficking charges against Lashburn and Lloydminster men dropped

Lloydminster RCMP had charged four people after raiding several homes and vehicles in May 2022.

LLOYDMINSTER – Charges against two people charged in a Lloydminster drug bust have been stayed.

Drug trafficking charges were stayed against Jason Krysta, 32, of Lloydminster and Otis Watier, 43, of Lashburn. This means that the crown isn't proceeding with the case and has one year to go ahead with the charges but this rarely happens.

Krysta and Waiter were charged after Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section and Lloydminster RCMP Police Dog Services raided multiple homes and vehicles between May 17 to 18 last year.

Sara McKenzie, 33, and Wesley Wendt, 46, both of Lloydminster, were also arrested and their preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 10 in Lloydminster, Alberta, provincial court.

Krysta still faces drug trafficking charges in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, court from a May 2022 arrest. His trial is scheduled for May on charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.

Krysta also has charges in Red Deer, Alberta court stemming from an incident in January 2022. Red Deer RCMP say that they got a call at about 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2022, that a man had been assaulted at a home in the Highland Green neighbourhood. He received non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP arrested Krysta, along with Corey Morris, 31, and Shane Donnally, 44, all of Lloydminster in the area of a nearby TD bank.

They were charged with uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, disobeying a court order, and failing to comply with conditions.

Krysta, Morris, and Donnally appear in Red Deer court again in September on those charges.
